Dell drives Cloud Services expansion

Dell’s channel partners in the UK and Ireland are now able to offer Dell Cloud Services to their customers under Dell’s Partner Direct Program. By expanding the partner offering, more customers can have the control and flexibility to manage and extend IT resources for private, public or hybrid clouds. Partners have been involved in a pilot of Dell’s Cloud Channel program since June 2012. Dell is now launching the program to the entire PartnerDirect community interested in selling cloud services backed by Dell data centers, experts and technologies.

The program gives partners in the UK and Ireland the ability to easily resell Dell Cloud Services. Dell provisions an instance of Dell Cloud Services for the partner who then resells capacity to customers.

Channel Partner Certification:

In conjunction with the expansion of its Cloud Channel program, Dell is also extending its channel certification program. In March 2012, Dell’s Global Commercial Channel team launched the Cloud Services & Solutions competency certification for channel partners within the Dell PartnerDirect program. This competency certification enables channel partners to provide cloud services and solutions to their customers based on Dell and partner technologies. It is comprised of three specialty areas of operation in providing cloud services and solutions:

· Cloud Builder, which launched March 2012

· Cloud Provider, which launched June 2012

· Cloud Services Enabler, which launches today in EMEA

A Cloud Services Enabler identifies, secures and integrates the appropriate set of cloud technologies and services, and operates the resulting cloud for their customer through a set of managed services. Dell Cloud with VMware vCloud® Datacenter Service is the basis for this certification specialty and is available for partners to resell to their customers.

"Customers want to know we understand their needs and can provide a suitable solution to address them. The Cloud Services Enabler Certifications allow us to demonstrate that we know how to solve real world issues, and have the backing of Dell’s cloud solution experts," commented Roger Harry, managing director Circle IT Solutions. "We can position ourselves in the trusted advisor role, and we’re one of the first partners to gain this accreditation, which builds on the existing success of the PartnerDirect programme."

"Working with Dell for the Cloud Certification means we provide customers with a more streamlined approach when it comes to offering integrated cloud solutions," commentedMike Nicholas, operations director, Nexus. "Some customers don’t want to make the leap to a full public cloud yet, and we’re seeing more companies implement a hybrid option. The certification allows us the flexibility to offer services and technology as and when our customers need it."

"Our cloud certification brings Dell’s offerings together, in one easy package for partners. The intention is to make the journey to the cloud as easy as possible and give partners a flexible, scalable solution that meet customers’ needs," commented Declan Murphy, vice president, Dell Services EMEA. "We have already seen significant interest from our partners in leveraging Dell’s vCloud platform for customers. Our partners are a critical part of our go-to-market strategy and play an essential role in delivering our full suite of offerings".
