Dell extends Cloud Services offering

Dell Partner direct premierComputing giant Dell has announced it is commencing full roll out of a new partnership programme, whereby its affiliates in the UK and Ireland will now be able to offer a complete spectrum of Dell Cloud Services to their customers via completion of a certification process.

Following the successful trial of the Dell Cloud Channel programme, which got under way earlier this year, the eponymous US firm is now expanding its partner offerings and making a reselling initiative available to its entire PartnerDirect community.

According to Dell, the scheme's expansion will allow end customers increased control and flexibility in choosing, managing and expanding their IT resources across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

At the same time, Dell remains positioned to support the cloud services being distributed by its partners - by way of its data centres, experts, and evolving technologies.

The American company ventured that the PartnerDirect programme positioned it in the role of "trusted advisor," empowering its associates with the autonomy necessary to optimise solutions, but at the same time ensuring a healthy degree of support and security for all parties involved.

Affiliated cloud services distributors will be classified under one of three specialist titles: the 'Cloud Builder' and 'Cloud Provider' roles were launched in March and June of this year respectively, whilst the new position of 'Cloud Services Enabler' was unveiled in the UK and Europe today.

"Customers want to know we understand their needs and can provide a suitable solution to address them. The Cloud Services Enabler Certifications allow us to demonstrate that we know how to solve real world issues, and have the backing of Dell's cloud solution experts," commented Roger Harry, managing director of Circle IT Solutions.

"We can position ourselves in the trusted advisor role, and we're one of the first partners to gain this accreditation, which builds on the existing success of the PartnerDirect programme," he added.

The role of Cloud Services Enabler will allow external firms to identify, secure and integrate the appropriate set of cloud technologies and services as appropriate to their customers - essentially operating the resulting infrastructure for the client through a set of managed services.

Dell Cloud with VMware vCloud Datacenter Services is the basis for this certification scheme and is also available for partners to resell directly.
