One of our remote Service Desk Teams based at our client Cardiff and Vale College’s site had the pleasure of training Intern, Melvin Saji this summer. Melvin joined us on the Career Ready programme through Cardiff and Vale College, where he is currently undertaking an Extended Diploma in IT - BTEC Level 3. As a Service Desk Intern, Melvin had the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the role. Here is what he had to say about his experience with Circle IT…
How did you feel when you first started?
When I first started I wasn’t sure whether I would be of any value to the company as I didn’t have much experience working within IT. But the guys at Circle IT were of great help. They took me through all the processes, step by step. They were easy-going and they didn’t make me feel like an outsider.
What have you taken from the experience?
I’m now more confident working with machines. I can build machines faster and I’m able to identify and fix errors within the machine. In short my work experience with Circle IT was top notch!
What did you learn about working life?
Getting used to the office hours was hard at the beginning but I faced that challenge with great courage and made myself go to bed early so that I could get to work early. I had to do some physical work like moving the machines around and setting up rooms too. I’m really glad that I did them because this gave me an insight of what the world of work is really like.
What have you enjoyed from the experience?
What I’ve enjoyed the most from my experience is learning all the new skills and knowledge and facing challenges which I think will benefit me in the future when I start my career in IT.
What will you miss the most from your experience?
I’ll definitely miss working with my colleagues who have been with me throughout my Internship. The past few weeks was a pleasure working with Circle IT.
