Position: Full Time / Permanent

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, customer focused Infrastructure Engineer, who is passionate about technology and enjoys keeping up-to-date with the latest technological trends, to join our expanding team at Circle IT.

We’re on the lookout for an Infrastructure Engineer with a good knowledge of networks & communication technologies and server infrastructure technologies including all Windows Server variants & roles. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to continuously learn and develop their technological skills.

Based at a client site in Cardiff, you will be responsible for providing customer service and technical support to users at Cardiff & Vale College (CAVC), alongside our on-site team at the College.

You will be required to carry out a DBS check for this position.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily Management of reactive and proactive support calls

  • Call logging and troubleshooting issues within time constraints

  • Resolving support queries or diagnosing issues

  • Providing cover for our 1st Line Support Team at CAVC Main point of escalation for multi-user issues and escalations from the Service Desk, where the 1st Line Team have not been able to resolve an issue.

    • responding to face to face walk-ins, inbound telephone calls, emails and service requests

About You

Qualifications, experience & knowledge


  • Experience of working in a technical customer service IT support role (desktop) previously

  • Experience of working in a customer services role

  • Exposure to working within SLAs

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a fast-paced working environment

  • Full and valid UK driver’s license

  • You are able and happy to complete an enhanced DBS check

  • A relevant technical qualification (desirable)

    • Active Directory
    • Firewall exposure – SonicWALL, WatchGuard, Cisco
    • Terminal Services
    • Virtual Infrastructure technologies - Hyper V, VMWare
  • Excellent customer services and communication skills

  • Excellent telephone manner and customer engagement skills

  • Practical problem solving and negotiation skills

  • Strong prioritisation and troubleshooting skills

  • A basic understanding of Apple-OSX (desirable)
